Well, wow. That was sure a lot of... almost everything. At times, a little too much; rather than being absorbed, I was sometimes jolted out into "Oh come -on-, now!" but it didn't help having Nathan and Stacy on either side of me nudging me and making smartass remarks while I'm trying to suspend my disbelief. Still, lots of hacking goodness and plenty of manly men in billowing capes! I forsee many people wanting to play fighters again, sort of like the rush on elven archers after LOTR came out.
The only kind of sad thing is, this is one of those films (and there have been others, which are escaping me at the moment, but I'll probably think of them eventually) which is based in historical fact and yet... the -facts- were so damn impressive, it almost spoils it to gussy it up with explosions and orcs and CGI. But that's Hollywood for you, and comic books as well.
I also seriously think that they should have either put the Spartans in proper Spartan armor (breastplate, etc), or had them comfortably naked except for their cloaks and sandals. The little leather posing pouches just looked silly. Dangling manbits would have looked -less- silly; that's how silly they looked.
