[25] The Lizzie Bennet Diaries (+text)

Apr 17, 2013 13:58

So last year when 20inspirations opened again, I applied and got accepted. Only, real life got in the way and though there were a bunch of challenges I wanted to enter, I just didn't have time (for a lot of things, really). But this round is a text round and I felt that if there was anything I needed to do icon-wise this month, this needed to be it ( Read more... )

Okay, no. We need to talk. We need to talk about how 01 is LITERALLY the most creative use of text I've seen thus far. What kind of magical brain wave led to that piece of genius? You find the absolute craziest ways to use silhouettes; it is amazing, I swear. SO OBVIOUSLY I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT ONE. NOTHING SLOW ABOUT IT. FELL HARD AND INTO A PUDDLE OF MY OWN TEARS AT HOW AWESOME IT IS. COOL ( ... )

Okay, omg. ♥ Thank you so much! To be honest 01's silhouette came about from being lazy! I was totally running out of text ideas to make things interesting, I think I was also in the middle of a commenting spree then (because procrastination is good) so I was reminded of this icon I'm using! So I was feeling a bit lazy to cut out more things and I saw this and thought PERFECT!

I think it's also perfect how the quote is from The Fault in Our Stars, which is by John Green, and Ashley and Daniel did a reading of it too. I just saw it from someone's comment in Youtube and thought it really was perfect for them.

And HUSH, that is my secret, you have found it out! Yeah, I usually use parts of bigger caps (same or different) as negspace backgrounds, partly brought about by cap battles! Sometimes I don't even resize and use unresized/large swaths of the background as an abstract-y background, lol.

Thanks so much :D ♥ I'm super glad I finished too :D

These are all incredible! I can't decide which ones I like better between 13 and 14, and 15 and 16. With and without the text are both perfect. So I took them all! And also 10 and 12 :)

Yay, LBD! I recently discovered this series and loved it so of course this batch makes me super happy. 1 is just so so creative and 3 is giving me giggles of a very good kind. And then there's 6 with the cropping and muted colours and 9 which has amazing vibrancy and text use and 12 where the blending is just phenomenal and 14 and 15 with their crops...I think it's suffice to say that I approve of this post.

Omg, how are you so perfect at text??? seriously it always looks so effortless and awesome in your icons, I'm so jealous :p

How does one come up with something like 1 though. It's amazing and artistic and perfection. Just wow. *___*

Also the texture use in this whole set!! I adore the grunginess/half-tone patterns I see here - especially in 2, 3, 17, 18, 19 and 25. Really loving everything else about 17/18 too, they're probably my favorites in the whole post of perfection. The little arrow thingy is such a fun element and the whole composition works so well.
You're really too awesome at combining text + negative space too. It works so awesomely in 11 and 19 especially, the whole text arrangements just slay me, and also the font choices/combinations. And then there's 7 with perfect, creative blending and text use.
21 has amazing use of light and shadows, and the whole composition and vibrant oranges of 20 are 100% incredible too.

AWESOME POST IS AWESOME :)

Funny you should mention the halftone-yness, because it's inspired by you!! :D I loved the retro look of your recent batches and when I saw that fabric round at contextures and how I think it was rebel's? textures worked when placed on an icon I was all like OMG I AM JOHN_SCORPIFYING MY NEXT BATCH FOR SURE. Although I can't quiiite get to your level of creativeness with it so you see it's not really that retro-ish or anything lol. But I'm glad you think it works :D ♥

Thanks, you made me grin like a fool, such an awesome thing to hear really!

Yes, totally absolutely serious :D

I was actually afraid someone might go, oh look a copycat lol but then my fears are ungrounded because my icons just plainly aren't as awesome as yours
