my first thought is, "'dem bones, 'dem bones, 'dem dryyy bones..."

however, moving on... i like how Ezekiel acknowledges that only God knows if they can be brought back to life, and then how God works through him to accomplish his promise to the people of Israel. i think that's how it is with us. God has shown me many times how He works best when i am less. He does great things through us, if we are willing to bow to Him and trust that He will do as He promised.

this passage also encourages me because it is so renewing; of life, of hope, of future. there have been times in my life when i have felt dead and dried up, only to find that God renews my spirit in some way or another, in His own time.

also, if i were Ezekiel, i would have been scared out of my mind to have seen this happen right in front of me!

Also, it shows how undeniably great God truly is. He did something which no one else could do or imitate in some way. He had promised to restore the land of Isreal, and he kept that promise. He fulfilled it in a way that couldn't be denied or ignored. It was undeniably God's work.

Another thing that comes to mind is how that applies to us as His Children. No matter what happens, the Lord will keep his promises to us even if it is in a way that might not be the way we expected. He will take care of us and watch over us, for all time.

God keeps his promises. No matter what.

Thank you all for your comments.

I loved this passage the first time I read it. I love how it shows that the flesh is nothing without the spirit. I love the hope it shows for the life that is to come. I love how it shoes that God can bring life to the lifeless and His power over all things. I also love how he subtly alludes to the second coming, when all believers will be raised up.

I always find it interesting how a certain passage can mean ten different things to ten different people. Hopefully this discussion has let all of you look at this particular passage in a new light thanks to everyone's comments.
