It's been almost two months since she last heard from Alex. Two. Months. Calling him seemed out of line and well, he obviously hadn't called her. He was busy, she was busy and with everything going on time just moved on. Though now, school was easier, less stressful on her poor brain and she took a afternoon to head to where he worked

Alex had been back from the tour for a while, bu the hadn't tried to see Shannyn because in all that time he was gone, he'd tried to call so many times, and never gotten a response - not knowing that he'd inputted her phone number wrong into his contact list, and those calls weren't going to their intended recipient. A case of crossed wires, and he's left thinking that she's not interested anymore.

So, he gets back into the swing of work and school, and he's sad, because he thought they perhaps had been on the verge of something really good. Maybe things hadn't been as meant to be as he'd thought.

But when he sees her waiting for him, randomly, that day, the cloud lifts from above his head, and he's smiling just about as widely as he ever has, hurrying to her side.

"I - I thought you didn't want to see me again. But you're here right now. Right? I mean - I'm not dreaming, am I?"

It was like she was Ginnifer Goodwin's character from He's Just Not That Into You. Maybe she'd read the signs wrong. Maybe..maybe he just didn't like her like that or he fell in love with a girl on tour or - there were so many endless possibilities that she had played out in her mind over the whole ordeal.

But here she was now, standing before him in a plaid school girl skirt and peter pan collared white blouse with a navy blue peacoat, just watching him hurry over.

"What? I thought you didn't want to see me again, you never called. I thought..." Don't say it Shannyn. Just change the subject. "It's me, in the flesh. Maybe a bit chilled like a popsicle but I'm here."

His smile fades, and his eyes widen, almost comically. "Shannyn - I called you every day. Left tons of messages. You ... never got them?"

He shakes his head, sad and feeling terrible at the thought that he'd hurt her, even inadvertently.

"I didn't come to see you once I came back because ... I thought you didn't want to see me - if you weren't answering those calls ... maybe you regretted what we did, maybe you realized that I wasn't the guy for you. But I - I swear to you, I called every damn day, I missed you so much and I couldn't wait to see you again."

He hesitantly reaches out a hand for hers.

She felt terrible herself, mostly because he appeared to be genuinely upset and she didn't handle those types of things very well. Even if he was lying, she wouldn't have thought too much about it, just forgiven him.

She took his hand very gingerly before shaking her head. "Do you really think that if I got them, I wouldn't have tried calling back?" She took a deep breath, her head dropping down so she could look at the floor. "I don't regret anything - and I guess it was a little silly of me to just presume that you'd call in the first place, I guess I just kind of thought maybe you wound up falling for the understudy or something. I don't know. Maybe my cellphone sucks that much, because I never got anything."
