What kind of books do you prefer? Can I suggest some French/Italian literature or it's harder to find?

The band thing. I would ask Led Zeppelin but they didn't dance. So ?? I don't know. I don't think I listen to people who also dance, so I'm going with a blast from the past and my favorite girl band when I was 9: The Spice Girls!

SPICE WORLD!!!!!! ever_neutral September 8 2015, 04:28:30 UTC
Woe, all my old Spice Girls feels have been misplaced but let's have a go.

First bias: I couldn't possibly know, but probably Emma since I was obsessed with being pale and blonde in grade school.
Current bias and why: Scary Spice. Obviously.
Fave song: Wannabe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> human history.
Fave MV: Spice Up Your Life. THEY WENT IN.
Member I think has the best smile: Baby.
Fave choreo: lol no, Western choreographers don't know wtf they're doing.
Fave era: Wannabe for "friendship never ends" < / 3
Fave voice/singer: Mel C. is the best one.
Fave dancer: Sporty, clearly. Them backflips.

As for foreign literature, you may do but with the caveat that I can't read in either language. /o\

Of course! I'll search for translated versions. But do you have any preference? Classics or recent/popular stuff? Let me know.

Also who is the scary spice? The sporty one? (I also liked her backflips! Although I think I was into Ginger Spike back then. And Mel B because she was the prettiest)

EDIT because I wish realized that scary spice must be Victoria. Am I right?

It has to be recent stuff. Cheers!

lol, nahhhhhh, bro. Scary spice = Mel B, sporty = Mel C, posh = Victoria.

(Mel B IS the prettiest, right?)

LIVE FOREVER ALEX. Maybe a little bit like Orlando.

Re book reviews: I only yesterday started hearing things about A Little Life, which is apparently a big book (700+ pages) and from the descriptions sounds like it may be a variation on hurt-comfort fic? Unsure. Also to my knowledge no one has done a joint review yet of Kim Gordon's and Chrissie Hynde's books, since the latter just came out. Also, congratulations, obviously. I am 100% in favor of unpaid creative endeavors that help the soul (also in favor of recognizing when the lack of pay starts hurting the soul, but you've got a ways to go before you get there, if you get there ( ... )

Orlando Bloom the pirate??? Or is this some higher-brow reference.... (If so then ignore.)

Thank!!!

Offensive thing to shout: I mean obviously I would try to get the words "Nam Woohyun is ugly" out of my mouth, and fail.

I mean, I'd probably point a calm finger in the direction of an optometrist's (people think Baekhyun is the best looking Exo member, live and let live, etc.); "Nam Woohyun can't sing", OTOH, be afraid!!!!

So far my two favorites are "Leave Mrs. Kim" and the one about being hungover, although I need to listen to "Moody Night" again.

EXCELLENT CHOICES, ALL. "Moody Night" is my fave so you better stan. Meme answers to come.

Sorry to hear about the bad day, dude. Godspeed with both.

misspoke! "officially done with mothering three-year-olds" as in I no longer have one: or, today is the fourth anniversary of the scariest morning of my life to date, which concluded with six pounds ten ounces of sleepy, who is now (no longer six pounds ten ounces, obviously, and) enjoying a post-brunch Paw Patrol marathon with big sister.

Books: Zen Cho's The Sorcerer to the Crown is new, getting great reviews, and apparently has a diverse cast and awesome female characters. I am only ten pages into it myself, but they were good pages! Or, Naomi Novik's Uprooted is new-ish (came out in the spring) and was great. OR, if you're writing for a website, maybe your job is to bring in page hits, in which case a problematic book might make for a more interesting review. If that's so then both the new Franzen and the new Rushdie are apparently super problematic!

Since I think the classics are sometimes the best, I would just yell "Buffy Summers is a bitch!" to track you down.

Literal LOL. All your info is appreciated. Knowing myself I'll probably veer towards the latter first!!

My pal chrisleeoctaves runs a book review blog called "The Ludic Reader" which specializes in young-adult fiction. It doesn't pay, either, but it eventually led to a part-time radio gig which does pay. If there's a particular genre of fiction that you're interested in, maybe you could focus on that? Specialization often leads to "expert" status, which can lead to consulting fees.
