Fifth Kiss

Would someone be so kind as to explain how Valentine's Day is supposed to work? I watched everyone very carefully but I'm afraid I still do not understand. I see that it has to do with love, however! I certainly hope everyone in love had a wonderful day.

giselle's been thinking, valentine's day

I get the feeling not everyone's feelings towards each other were intentional, though.

Anyway. It's just a holiday that comes around once a year where you give someone you like a gift or something.

Intentional? But people never intend to fall in love. That is one of the most beautiful things about it. It comes from feelings alone.

I see. But why only once a year?

Well...meaning it looks like Template forced affection on people. So they didn't necessarily feel that way normally.

And that's my issue with it. But I suppose it's no different than holidays I have back home. Like in Japan we have a Children's Day and that's when families pray for their sons to be successful and have a nice future. You'd think that's something to be done on a normal day-to-day basis...but, yeah, they got a holiday for it.
I suppose you can kinda think of it as an extra special holiday? Like...a worldwide acknowledgment of such feelings?

[tilts her head slightly] But...that doesn't make sense at all.

Hm, that way seems much nicer. I like to think if you love someone, you always find little ways to show them that. It's how they know.

It's just a holiday where you give gifts to people you love. Dunno how to really explain it, otherwise...

What sort of gifts did you give?

Er...chocolates, flowers, photo albums, food, and cards, I think.

That's so sweet! I'm sure they all appreciated it very much.

I'm afraid I myself am trying to find out what it is. But it sounds like a holiday dedicated to showing the people you love just how much they mean to you.

It seems very nice but I think everyday should be about celebrating the people you love.

I see! Is there any reason for that date? It simply seems odd to me to pick only one day to show love to one another...

I wonder why people decided to create a specific day for it, though. No one should forget they are in love with someone, after all.

It's a day to celebrate love. It doesn't normally matter if you are in a relationship or not. Normally lovers do something special, but it's not always so. You can get friends gifts as well. It takes place on February 14th, though I've heard that people celebrate it quite differently all over the world.

This is very interesting! I've always thought love should be shown everyday. But I suppose Valentine's Day is like a...a... [struggles to think of a word] a...'date' day, yes?

It should be but people make it out to be an extremely special day. But you're right, it's a date day.

That's so lovely. Everyday should be for celebrating love but dates do seem nice. Did you have a date?
