Okay, yes, I know I am new...I just wanted to say you sound way too much like me. I was looking for jobs recently, I found the best mix of things to do was get to know the managers, mention your looking for job and ask if they are hiring. If they say yes say cool, can I get an application and maybe sit down and talk to you about what it is like?

This works cause if you hit it off with the manager, and they sit down to talk, its basicly a first interview. Just a neat trick I figured out. Sad thing was...I decided to join the Marines before any of them offered me a job, I got like 6 offers. Speaking of which...11 days...then I go to boot camp. *grins* hope the advice helps.

yea i have two jobs that i both had to do that with, and it worked. it just really sucks trying to get them and going through all the trouble to kiss ass when you want to be real, but they don't want you to be?! whatever. job searching still sucks.
