I kind of hate facebook - for many of the reasons you sort of mention. It's a lot of closed minded people who weren't exactly mean but weren't exactly nice either - and I haven't friended any of them. I don't need that kind of negativity in my life.
As for #22. The mean girl/ bully thing translates into academia. Most of my colleagues were the bullied kids. Theay cannot get over it, and it translates into treating staff very poorly - to show How Important They Are Now, and other kinds of behavior, like taking things personally when it's not, vindictive spite, and a sort of manufactured indignation and self importance that is pretty awful to see. I myself am more than guilty - and it was about 2 years ago that I recognized it, and made a determination NOT to act like that. At least, not if I could help it. Have you seen the social gaffs of geeks thing online? It's so true. http://www.plausiblydeniable.com/opinion/gsf.html
