The door opens into a house Sherlock may find familiar. Heather doesn't believe that being a vampire means having to skulk around in warehouses. When the owners of a large, luxurious home die suddenly, without their wills in order, and ownership of the building is in doubt, there's nothing keeping a group of vampires from settling in.
Visitors from the bank that attempted to take the house have been . . . discouraged.
Overall, though, Cal receives the comment with indifference. He likes Heather okay, he supposes, but this isn't a permanent arrangement. Just a place to be while he and Dad find a way to take apart what's left of the Chandler family.
"His son? Yeah. He's in New York, I think." Tony Stark's existence was pretty well publicized after the Starks' deaths.
He cocks his head consideringly. "I think he has a crazy twin or something, too."
There's a brief pause. (This Cal may not have Sherlock's influence to have sharpened his thinking as of late, but the demon currently residing in his body isn't exactly an idiot either.)
"They did," he confirms, reverting to his own accent. "It must have been ongoing for some time, because Howard broke into the house and did not get shot, arrested, or thrown out on his ear. It could have turned out differently in your world, of course. I'll know when I see the window. Ground floor, east side, near the back, yes?"
Cal is actually feeling kind of optimistic. Sherlock's confidence is catching.
"Okay," he says. "Well, I can't be anywhere near by or he'll figure out something's up, and I need to get something to eat anyway." He grimaces. "Bar won't give you anything human that's not from a blood bank, don't even try. We have a Slayer in town, so I'm gonna be a while."
That's the major drawback of staying in Sunnydale. Cal Chandler is officially missing, and very recognizable. If he runs into the Slayer while he's hunting, he's done. That's not an encounter many new vampires survive.
So dropping by the Bronze for a quick meal is out of the question.
Sherlock is aware that this little jaunt will weigh heavily on him when he regains his soul, but really. There is no way he could have predicted such an absolutely perfect set of circumstances, and it is far too much to ask him not to indulge.
"But I think I shall tackle the problem of your family first. Don't get killed; I would be quite upset."

Sherlock laughs.

"It's still kinda early," he says, "so pretty much everyone is out right now."
Cal tends to lag behind a little. Being a vampire has not altered his interest in sleeping in.

In case Cal needed more proof of Sherlock's story, he never told Sherlock her name, did he.
"So there was a Howard Stark once. How about a Tony?"
Because that might be a pretty good angle of attack.

"This all makes a lot more sense now."

He drops into Tony with hardly a pause.
"I do a pretty good impression of the guy."

Cal thinks he's seeing where Sherlock is going with this.

Of course, he hadn't known until now that the disgusting old creep was even capable of being attracted to anyone he wasn't related to.
"Yeah," he says. "Peter's got the whole property covered with wards, though. I don't know if you'll even be able to get past the fence."

Considering that the major danger now is strictly nocturnal, it seems like a safe bet.

He smiles.
"That ought to be interesting."

"If you can get in, he won't even see you coming."
