“Oïnk”- “In the metaphysical sense of the word, of course”, answered the pork to Garfield.
I don't guarantee the exact wording, I read the caption some years ago LOL

I just got a phone call from the superintendent's office saying there has been one confirmed case of swine flu in the public schools!

It is so wrong that I find the whole thing HILARIOUS, but swine flu is super-awesome. Even awesome-r? Today in Chinese class we learned the word for "flu" totally by random!

Althought, the "pork" is a bit of a misnomer, as you can't get it from eating pork. I wish that was the only way to transmit it, because then if my sister got it we would know she hasn't been keeping kosher (which isn't a big deal, I'm just curious).

Do you live in Boston proper? I live up in Woburn. I work for the Department of Public Health (yup, the same people that are handling all the swine flu stuff).

Did they close the schools or were they just warning you that there was a case?

Nah, I live in the greater Boston area. Do you know Brookline? It's right next to the Longwood area.

It was just a warning, but I want them to close school...

Any chance you can arrange that? *whips out wad of cash*

Sorry! I wish I could help you. Actually, the CDC (Atlanta) and Mass. DPH both want the schools to stay open unless it's really necessary to close them.

I just drove by Fenway and the Longwood area yesterday. I work out of the Tewksbury State Hospital, but I have to go into the State Lab (where I worked from 2000 to late 2002) every so often. If it's the middle of the day I go through Longwood, take the Riverway to the Jamaicaway to the Arborway to Jamaica Plain. The State Lab is butted up against the Arnold Arboretum.

If I have to commute during rush hour or when there's a game, I go route 128 to route 9 and take a right just before the Chestnut Hill Mall (mmmm - Cheesecake Factory) and go the back roads .

It's a long, slow ride either way.
