the past is such a precarious thing. old letters that were once of great importance, slowly but surely always lose value. word are just as precarious. meaning, intent, purpose, everything open to interpretation. everything pliable. in the end nothing is really concrete at all ( Read more... )

...although we look to the Renaissance as a time of innovation and rebirth, we tend to forget it was just as much a continuation of the constraints and boundaries that governed the Middle Ages..

A couple quick questions. You say that the romantic age was a time of discovery and wonder, what about today? You tell me that your father is probably the smartest man you will ever meet, what are his accomplishments? You say that the past is "hopeless" how then are you typing these things? How exactly did competition lead to the self-destruction of communism? Nothing is concrete, seems to me that anything involving death is fairly concrete. Was the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima?

well "big johh," when i referenced the romantic age i said that it seems as if it was a time where it was much easier to become a part of something that is bigger than yourself than it is today. granted i didnt live back then, thats just how i have always seen it. and i didnt tell you shit, you read something. a man doesnt have to have great accomplishments to be extremely intelligent. im typing these things because i have hands, what the fuck are you talking about there ( ... )

Well, you feel the need to argue semantics so what you said was, "the times of great thinkers and great people, with a sense of longing. if only i could be a part of such times. discover great things, imagine things that seem unimaginable. to become a part of things much bigger than yourself. if only...". You, like most other unhappy people cannot conceive of our current age to be one of discovery, unimaginable things, things bigger than yourself. This part of your life would be no different then life during those ages you seem to think so highly of. You would still spend time talking of the ages in the past while remaining ignorant of things going on around you. Have you ever heard of super string theory or cloning just to name a couple ( ... )
