Freaky dream

Basically, I was in a city that resembled Hong Kong, and there was this large residential building for lower middle-class people (long, dim, narrow hallways) that I was supposed to go into and find someone. However, the building was in isolation because a strange condition was randomly striking the residences. The people who were afflicted with it simply sat down in the hallway against their door and stared blankly into space, arms and legs stretched out in front. Because the hallways were so narrow, some of their hands could almost touch the opposite wall.

So I had to pick my way through these people, carefully avoiding their limbs, and they simply ignored me. However, as I walked further into the building, I realized that I was becoming lost, and the people sitting around seemed to be getting progressively taller with longer arms and legs. I tried to turn back, but then my way was blocked by a guy who was standing up, and with such long arms that my head will barely be able to squeeze through the gap between his fingertips and the wall. I couldn't duck under his arms either because there was another guy sitting down right next to him.

I pressed my back against the wall, making myself as flat as possible, and slowly shifted through the gap to get pass him. But, just as I was halfway through and positioned right in front of his hands, the guy suddenly sprang to life and both his hands closed around my throat.

...And then I woke up. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I just finished reading Elantris--not because that book is scary, but because of a similar plot device.
