There was an interview with a woman who has a gambling problem and who signed a self-imposed ban with the Province (BC)meaning that casinos weren't supposed to let her in. The subject of the interview was, however, her complaint about the Province not keeping their side of the contract, i.e. casinos security still letting her in.... Isn't that funny....
And then there was another piece on CBC Radio on whether or not Ontario should make wearing a helmet by an adult cyclist mandatory. Now, The only logical reason for that that I see is the healthcare system being funded publicly (why should my taxes pay for fixing someone who is negligent about their health..). Interestingly, that is not the argument I am hearing most often, that is - it has been proven that wearing a helmet saves lives THEREFORE it should be mandatory. Which to me does not make sense - it's like saying I know what's better for you therefore I will force you to do that and not smth else...
Who was that who said that when you hand over personal responsibility, you hand over personal freedom?
