THE LIVEJOURNAL

Today, I was thinking a lot about the whole concept of a LiveJournal and I think I came to some possible conclusions here ( Read more... )

But that doesn't make any sense. I mean, you do not break any of your own rules. You have people that willingly and wantingly read your journal and reply because they want to, not because they think you want them to.

If the problem is having to read entries that break your rules, well you are well within your rights to not read those entries or even de-friend those people (yes, even if it's me!).

Basically what I'm trying to say is your means don't line up with your ends. Deleting your journal doesn't seem to have anything to do with your post, so I'm thinking maybe the whole post was just an excuse to say you want to fly out of LJ-Land?

Not necessarily, I was actually considering deleting my journal and then I started to think of reasons to do so, which brought me to this post.
Yes, of course I'm within the 'rights' to delete any friend or just not look at their journals but I mean, you should at least see where I'm coming from with all of this. As far as the commenting thing does, in a sense... you are right but some people actually in reality do keep it as a standard to comment on their journals. I really just wanted to share some thoughts I had with this site and many journals because not many people are too honest with it.
I like you so I wouldn't delete you as a friend.

Deleting my journal is still and option, odds are I will not but I might actually just be having my own blog on my website when it opens in a couple weeks.

Thanks for commenting, as well, I was waiting for someone to. haha

I do see where you are coming from. What you're describing in this post can only be attribuited to a sort of pop culture movement in livejournal. Otherwise known as "this is what everyone else does, so I'll do it too". People are striving to fit in on LJ just like they do in real life - unfortunately this is why we are burdend with the 3855 different rating communities. Also people are using LJ as a back up plan. If they get shafted in life, they come online, so at least they can be cool somewhere in the world.

And posts like yours, that is honest about it, are the reason why LJ should exist and why you shouldn't delete yours.
