Some days after reading the newspaper and looking at BBC I want never, ever, ever, ever to read the news again. Today is one of those days. After being thoroughly depressed by reading brief bios of the poor kids and professors who died in Virginia, I simply turn on my computer to print out a grocery list so that I can go buy food and I discover, ( Read more... )

I know what you mean. for some reason, the shootinsg have not gotten to me as much. on the other hand, I read an article in mother jone sthis week that described at length the fact that we are living through the 6th great wave of extinctions in the history of the planet they said that by the end of this century, over 50% of the species on earth today will be extinct. and sometimes you can just file stuff like that away and do the grocery shopping, but for me this week, it has been a deluge of depressing thoughts about being the last generation of humans. or the bringers of doom for the planet. I don't know, all very melodramatic, but anyway, I hear your pain. news = bad.
