Sweet innocence

That little boy.  He melts my heart.  This morning we went to Gymboree.  His teacher gave each of the kids a Valentine.  One of those folded paper Valentines that kids give and get at school.  His had Snoopy and hearts on it.  She handed him that card and he held it like a little treasure.  He turned to me with his eyes wide and pointed to Snoopy ( Read more... )

I get teary-eyed just thinking about my little innocent ones. Long, long, long time ago.

Sometimes it's fun just to pretend we are still like that, and do things like talk to the birds or try to catch "flying" leaves.

I guess that my getting to witness that kind of innocence and joy now in him is one of the delights of life, since we don't keep that and we don't really remember it in ourselves. Maybe I'm more emotional because I'm pregnant or something, but seeing him so enthralled with that simple card ranks as one of the sweetest moments of my life. I wish you could have been there.

my younger cousins make me valentines each year, and I've saved them all, since they remind of that same innocence and spirit...
