When I ask you to listen to me and you start giving me advice, you have not done what I asked.

Can I say thank you so much for posting this? It's really awesome, and as someone who always feels like when someone's letting off steam I need to give some sort of advice to be helpful, it's a very good reminder to just listen and be there.

another thing I dislike are pat answers like "It's all in the past," or someone who has to be contradictory, especially when you have heard that person express the very same sentiment or opinion at an earlier time.
