loyalty apparently means nothing

my father was laid off today. after 31 years of loyal service, they gave him a pink slip. called him into the boss's office at 11:30am, laid him off, and by the time he got back to his office, there was someone there to watch him pack his things. they did not, however, lay off the person they hired about a year ago that has the same title as my ( Read more... )

I thought (still think) the exact same thing. I think that it's incredibly short-sighted for a company that has financial issues to cut costs by firing the people that actually know what they're doing but get paid more. It's ridiculous!

It makes me wonder what people are actually learning (or rather, FAILING to learn) in business school!
