Down And Out

I have been released by the Vulcan hospital. Although the surgery was performed under emergency conditions with primitive instruments, I have had the full benefit of modern Federation medical technology to speed my recovery. I have spent much of the last two days in communication with the Vulcan Science Academy, related to the work I shall be doing with them. I have not yet contacted, nor been contacted by,
Storvik's father Surthra, nor have I placed a high priority on doing so. My memories of my own father Surthra, combined with what I have thus far heard from Storvik about his own father, indicate that building a relationship between us will not be an easy task. I do know that he has expressed his intention to meet his granddaughter; so once
T'Sorvik is brought down from the
USS Murgatroid, I shall contact him.
I do not know what to make of the coincidental timing of Storvik and I both receiving simultaneous emergency surgery and receiving identical scars. It has never been adequately explained how parallel universes can maintain such a high degree of congruence over time, even a century or more after the event which caused their divergence; but for similar things to happen to us now that we are in the same universe defies even those causal theories which do exist. This is something else the Academy will no doubt wish to investigate.
As for
KY Jellico's retirement, it is no concern of mine. I did not spend a significant amount of time with this universe's Kenton Jellico, nor get to know him well. I do find myself pondering, however, whether the
Evil KY Jellico from my universe is similarly leaving his position. In my universe, starship captains rarely choose to retire; they normally have retirement thrust upon them (via knives thrust within them). Had I stayed on my
ISS Murgatroid, I might be ascending to the captaincy I sought at this very moment.
