It's Time To Fly

I am planning to take temporary leave of the
USS Murgatroid. We have been towing Surak's Razor with our tractor beam while we perform this meaningless patrol, and I have been performing maintenance and upgrades upon it. I had attempted to make a copy of the Romulan cloaking device with which the Murgatroid is equipped, but have thus far been unable to duplicate certain components that are labelled "DRM" (presumably for "Don't Replicate Me"; a few vital components are composed of materials similar to gold-pressed latinum). This is different from the "copy protection" schemes employed within the Imperial Fleet; such devices are simply labelled "You Copy, You Die" and there is an "open source" of funds paid as bounty for the capture/death of violators. Say what you will about the Empire's "honor system"; any sane individual will honor a credible threat to their life. Still, Surak's Razor already employs other methods of reducing the odds of its detection, so it is not necessary to run the risk of incurring the wrath of the Romulans over a treaty breach (which would no doubt also violate my promise to Captain
Storvik to take no actions contrary to the interests of the Federation.
Doctor
Mib Khan has also granted my request, so I shall be able to impersonate my analog if such becomes necessary. It certainly will not be the first time.
Captain Storvik will probably not interfere with my departure, provided I do not attempt to take
T'Sorvik with me. That is perfectly logical, as she is safer aboard the Murgatroid and has greater opportunities for education and socialization there; but the fact that I must leave her behind means that it shall not be long before I return.
All that is required now is a destination. Normally, I would go first to
Starbase 668; since I visited that station earlier (and more frequently) than Captain Storvik, that is the one place in this universe where I do not feel like his shadow. However, when I contacted the station some time ago to inquire about the status of Lieutenant (j.g.)
Diziara (she had been accused of homicide of her commanding officer when last I was there), I was informed that she had transferred to starship duty on the
USS Takeda Shingen. This is unfortunate, as I did … enjoy … the drinking and bar fighting which we experienced together before the situation was rudely brought to a premature halt by an Andorian named
Hravitherav th'Shan. I do not know where he is, but if he is fortunate, it is somewhere far away from Ms. Diziara.
Of course, there are other reasons for me to find another destination than Starbase 668 this time…
