Don't know if I mentioned it, but one of K's little nonsense words when she was about 2 was "Hug-a-durr." I don't know what she thought it meant, but she said it all the time. Quite forcefully too.

She has a special place in my heart for all those hugs she gave me. I'm glad she shared them with others too.

It takes more strength and courage to know when to take good care of yourself (and then do it) than it does to beat on your chest and declare yourself invulnerable. I believe in your toughness, but I also believe in all the rest. I believe in the poet and the teacher, and the firefighter, the soldier, the lover, the musician, the engineer. And I love you.

Part of being tough is being smart, and it's no way smart to not take care of yourself and do what's needful. Tough is being brave in the face of scary medical procedure rather than ostriching and not getting the stuff done.

You're tough, you're just not stupid.
