A much belated review of Arctic Bear:
"Cave in to shivery pleasures with this festively icy blend straight from the North Pole. A playful mix of aromatic Northern bayberry, frosted Siberian fir needle oil and the dry freshness of snowy woods. "
In the bottle, I get spruce. This is good--I love it <3
Upon application, throw is rather light. I pin it as a less sweet version of BPAL's Ice Prince (bath oil, which I also adore), so I was psyched about it. I don't get that strange medicinal smell or initial flat-coke as I do from numerous woods.
An hour later..and omg, you could probably smell me across the room. Mind you, I'm NOT a slatherer--two dot on each wrist from the lid. I was enveloped by fir in Houston-- it was very warm, and like down South, the winter trees had a border-line sweet scent due to the heat; fir sweet, not really berry sweet. Very heady; not something I'd want to be stuck in a room with no ventilation with ^^;
Wear-length...at least 6 hours. I had to scrub at the scent a bit to lighten the strength before it killed me, so I'm not sure of its full potential.
I needed a break from packaging, so I took a shower today and got to try out the slice of Arctic Bear soap wylddancer sent me *squee*
In bar form: Very strong, winter berry-- I only get a touch of the wintergreens I adore so much.
Lather: I've never used any other Arcana soap, so I'm not how it comepares, but it's thick, but not thick bubble-wise. =) Good for shaving, and rather pleasent! It comes off cleanly without too much of a fight.
Once I washed myself, I was rather surprised--in bar form, Arctic bear is sweeter than the oil. Not in a candy sense, but just in a natural...almost berry, but not quite. That dies in about 15 minutes and I get my fir/spruce back, but it's almost masculine smelling now o.O The soap morphs more than the oil! But then the scent all but vanishes about 15 minutes after the masculine-ish morph.
I'll use up my pieces I bought from voleuse, but I don't think I shall actively seek it unless it's on sale or something again =) *So loving her Villainess: Shanghaied. Can't take advantage of Scent sale, as she already has...four back-up bars*
Overall, I give it a 4.6 out of 5. I love these wintery scents, so I'm a little biased (Some of my fav scents are Snow Moon, Ice Prince, and Arctic Bear).
