Question...

This is a weird one.
Yeah, even for me.  Some of you I've already asked this of, so if you don't want to comment, you don't have to.

How many times in your life have you had people tell you that they either feel that "fate" or destiny had brought you together, or that they have known you in a prior life?
How many times have you felt a connection with ( Read more... )

I think the latter, also; but I didn't want to say "Dude, you attract freaky people."

Ha, yeah, my first reaction is "wow, that's creeper behavior." And to be honest, if it happened to me, I'd probably stick with my first reaction. But, you know, tough to judge someone else's friends and acquaintances (and thus I try not to.)

Hmm. I suppose I think that I just have an unconscious bit or radar for my kind of people. Even when I think I'm stepping outside that and making friends with someone different than that-- they turn out to be loyal, somewhat self-sacrificing, etc.

One of my friends summed it up by saying, "You're just not interested in anyone who is not true-hearted, and you apparently have an ability to sniff them out."

I do think about these things, but I'm unable to string 5 sentences together coherently at the moment.
Fate/destiny, yes.
Useful coincidences/crossing paths, yes.
Not reciprocating the feeling that another has expressed regarding that, probable social manipulator- to be avoided.

Also, because I've had this conversation before, people who are attracted to the SCA have a tendency toward 'old soul' markers, imho.

I think it's got to do with what is often called the "subconscious" part of the brain, or with "intuition". For example, I'm not hugely romantic, and I don't really believe in love at first site (as opposed to lust/attraction), but it happened to me...I met the guy and I never looked back. My suspicion is that in these cases, the not-quite-on-the-surface parts of the brain know things that the conscious mind is not aware of.

I would go with the 'old soul' bit. (Which to me also means an openness to observing the world as it goes by, also at some point just letting it be.) I'm not sure about fate or destiny tho, I just know that sometimes, for me, I 'sinc better with some folks and wish I had more opportunities to spend time with them. Never felt the urge to talk about it but I can see where someone else might.

Now if they dwelled on it, and pushed this connection they say they feel, that would get creepy and put up the warning flags.
