Eidel squatted next to the body. "That's not right. Does that seem right to you?"

"It's a body."

Samiazaz's reaction made Eidel turn to her. "You do understand this woman was torn apart."

Samiazaz shrugged. "It's dead."

"She's dead and she died in a terrible, violent manner." Eidel stood up, taking the few steps closer to his demon. "Surely the violence fascinates you?"

"Not the aftermath, no." She studied the scene all too briefly. "Had I been here earlier, able to watch?" Her smile still had that chilling effect though Eidel fought to hide his own reaction. "That would have interested me."

I pulled a couple of cards from my Writers emergency pack.

1. Someone is not who he seems. Perhaps it's an ally or maybe it's the hero.

2. Every villain is a hero. What is the villain trying to do? After all he doesn't know he's the bad guy. He's the hero of his own story.

The sheer cacophony coming from the crowd was enough to hurt my ears. I hoped the noise wouldn't distract Sir Didymus. We'd never competed before a crowd this large. I glanced down at him and he flashed me a doggy smile - lolling tongue, slightly narrowed eyes, and ears drooping and rising a tiny bit

"It shouldn't be snowing." She tilted her head back, glaring at the sky as if her scowl might stop the flakes drifting down.

He adjusted his scarf and tucked his hands in the pockets of his jacket. It helped a little at least. "Oh?"

"It's April." She shot him the same dirty look she'd given the clouds. "You know, spring?"

"And why do you think it wouldn't snow in April?"

"Because it's spring!" She all but stomped her foot in exasperation. "Flowers! Warmth! Rain. Not - not snow!He sighed. "You can't change the weather
