“Hugh?”
“Stephen! Thought you didn’t love me anymore! Is something the matter?”
“I have a stray waif passed out on the settee.”
“…Alan?”
“Doubt he even remembers what his name is at the mo…Is there some climate change that is effecting the habits of our young lovebirds?”
“…”
“Hugh?”
“They broke up, Stephen.”
“Don’t mumble, darling. Didn’t quite catch that.”
“They’ve been split for over a month now.”
“Fuck me, you can’t be serious!”
“Completely, I’m afraid. Robert’s been a little lost.”
“Alan’s the instigator, then?”
“Yeah. Your Alan is acting rather childish.”
“Not arguing, but I do wonder when I got promoted to parent. So is it really over?”
“Robert would take him back in a flash.”
“Alan’s stubborn streak has once again reared its ugly head. I’ll try to talk with him in the morning if he can hear me over the anvil chorus in his noggin.”
“Good luck.”
“Thank you, ole chap, but I am afraid I will need more than that.”
