Saw The Martian as well yesterday, it's awesome! Although I could't watch at the beginning when Watney was doing self-surgery. *hides* They changed some stuff from the book, but I didn't mind it - for the movie it worked mostly better like that.
I've heard from a friend who's already seen The Walk that it really is amazing! It's also a lot funnier than the trailers make it out to be, and the 3D is wow. He's afraid of heights, but his brain was clever enough to realise that this wasn't real (it wasn't clever enough to know that the stuff flying towards him wasn't real either, though *g*). But! One of his colleagues is also afraid of heights and he got sweaty palms at the end - it was too immersive for him.

I am seeing The Martian on Friday. I won't be seeing it on IMAX unfortunately because the person I am going with gets sick in those. But I am still really excited to see it. Have you seen Interstellar? If so, did you think The Martian or Interstellar was better? I love how Jessica Chastain and...another male (no spoilers in case you haven't seen it) are in both. I don't know why but it amuses me.
The Walk looks a little dull to me. I also don't care for the male lead so I think I'll pass. Usually I either need a fast plot or a main character(s) I really enjoy watching to watch that kind of a film. I hope you enjoy it! I think just the fun of seeing something like that in 3D will be cool.
Yep, saw Interstellar. Totally different films, so hard to compare. I LOVED the humor in The Martian, it was a bit surprising how much there was. And Interstellar, I saw mainly for Matthew McConaughey, but I really liked it as well, though the ending lacked a good impact..no pun intended lol.
Who was the person in both? Been awhile since I've seen it.
Also a huge fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, which is why I want to see The Walk, though I might have caught it on video if I didn't know the lead. (if you haven't seen 50/50, it might make you a fan ;) )
Feels like all of my flist is lurking at times. I try to give a poke to the ones who have vanished for a few years, but rarely get any responses back :( Still love this place.

Yeah, I am sad about the state of LJ these days. They picked a bad time to start doing things that pissed off the masses which made everyone go to FB, Twitter, and Instagram. :/ I'll never leave though. Like you, I still love it here.
Not only a bad time, but a lengthy time. It did sound like things are going to be better, but I haven't noticed many updates since then. Oh well. At least the site still works *knock on wood*
