"Red!" Isolde came flying down the corridor. "I believe you owed me a foot rub Old Son."
"Whipped," Maggie whispered to her cringing brother.
"A month ago this was you," he whispered back. He held up his hands. "Was just checking on Maggie."
The blond rolled her eyes and punched the tall man's shoulder. "Mags can take care of herself."
"You know me too well Izzy." The captain sighed and turned to Doc. "Shall we dance?"
"Maggie, I could do the foot rub thing and then we could, you know, hang out and talk."
"Oh no, baby bro. You have yourself a night of it." The brunette smiled engagingly at the volatile blond. "Don't keep him up too late now Izzy."
"Whatever. Come on lover." Isolde snagged the front of Pat's jumpsuit and started dragging him down the hall.
Maggie successfully bit down her laughter just long enough for the couple to disappear around the bend. She bent over wiping tears from her eyes as she leaned into the wall. Doc shook her head. "You young'uns have no sense when it comes to that woman, do you?"
"Not a bit of it." Wiping another tear away Maggie turned back to the grey haired scientist with the impish grin. "So what kind of trouble are we in now?"
"Aside from the assorted forms of fun caused by your hiring policies and a hold full of heirloom, our guest just woke up. She might be just as hot as the rest of the cargo."
Maggie sobered quickly. "What? Please tell me Pin wasn't right about her."
"She was looking at cryo-transport to Midas followed by a death sentence. I figured you would want to be there when I found out why."
"Terrific. Let's go find out which creek we're up." She began striding swiftly down the corridor. Running her fingers through her hair Maggie cringed. "If we don't end up dead by the end of the day, remind me to get a haircut." She stopped dead. "That's why she looked so weird... she has long hair."
Doc rolled her eyes. "Your discernment never ceases to amaze me."
Breaking the door seal, Maggie turned to give Doc the evil eye. She turned back to find herself staring into the greenest eyes she'd ever seen. Her feet were glued to the floor. Blinking rapidly to clear the feeling she'd just got hit by a power surge she moved forward to meet the latest source of stress in her life.
