Sometimes I don't know what to say

Yesterday I was driving the 271 From Issaquah to the Univ District. Just outside Issaquah a grey haired slender woman in her 50s got on and sat on the seat just next to the door. As I'm driving admiring the rain and watching my mirrors and traffic etc, the following conversation ensued ( Read more... )

I wonder about people all the time. How rights are confused with entitlements with priviledges with luxuries with.... You know, of course, that legislation is a moral judgement--morals as in a measure of what is believed to be right and wrong, whether religiously based or otherwise. Legislation is just what is written down as mutually agreed upon rules of behavior as right or wrong within that social construct. It's just one particular group's recorded morals codified for social behavior regulation, control, and enforcement. That does not make it justice nor fairness nor truth. Neither does it mean any disagreement with that particular morality is immoral--just differently moral.

It always amazes me how many people place some hardcore epistemic weight on something so subjective and call it truth. How many people ever bother to really think about it? Not many I bet...(which, of course, is why I will ultimately remain single for such radical views as mine).

*sigh* What a trip....both on the bus and with people in general.

Scary random lady! Shoo! Shoo!
I think you handled the situation brilliantly.

Oh and a PS - The girl who complained to Metro customer service about her driver? Well now he's asking her to take out her pass each time she rides his bus - so he can properly see her pass denomination. She asked him what was up, and he restated about how he needed to see her pass denomination properly. He also added that he did get spoken to about her complaint, AND she was free to complain again if she chose to.
Blarg.
I think they might both be stubborn people butting heads...But you never know.
