Why would he go off at you when you're just doing your job and caring for a patient? That is so fucked!

Because he doesn't want to be bothered ever - which rather begs the question of why he is a physician that sees hospitalized patients which may, you know, need to have things reported to him at odd hours of the night. One can only imagine.
I had a stiff drink, took a hot shower and had some non-dairy frozen dessert - I'm feeling marginally better, though I will be following up Monday with my manager on who to report his ass to - because there are, supposedly, places to report these things to.

I am so sorry. We all hear about the horrible ways that doctors treat nurses but I don't think anyone really believes it until they see someone they know go through it.
