We saw Taken this weekend, which was a little better than expected, but not exceptionally good either. The premise was shaky to begin with, and perhaps it is a sign of my age, but I thought the fact the father was uncomfortable sending his 17-year-old daughter to Paris alone with a friend's relatives, and later to follow U2's european tour across ( Read more... )

Hmm, I personally think you'd probably been allowed if boyfriend wasn't in the equation -- not because they didn't know him, but a gaggle of teens (particularly mixed gender) seem to get into more trouble. Whereas we by ourselves... uh... went to Mass. WOOHOO PARTY!

Gee, do you think unsurboys < Europe on the danger scale?

They aired a "sneak peek" of that movie on some cable channel, which was basically an extended cut of the abduction scene. I could pretty much tell from that I would be annoyed by a whole movie about a dumb teenager.

I have no idea why that says "unsur" boys. I need a new keyboard... Oh! Maybe I was typing "unsupervised." Yeah, that must be it.

Quite possibly, although it seems to be it was still a relatively new concept of being able to leave the house without direct parental supervision anymore, and that might have been contributing to the uneasiness. But still, at the time it was a "wah, my dad is a meanie" situation, but in retrospect, wasn't ridiculous.

Maybe the drive? I mean, you'd been over at my house all the time, just driven by a parent -- and you and I went to the mall and stuff with me driving. It's not like we did ANYTHING compared to normal kids, heh.

I don't honestly remember the day at all, but I'd wager it's the boy thing... my mom is ridiculously lax, but I know I've always been less comfortable with Clara spending the night at male's homes OR group settings than female's homes, which I assume will just be sedate and nice. Of course, it's all moot now -- but by gum, I'd be one of those bitchy parents! I'd freaking microchip the dumb kid. Horrible children.
