So, for those of you not paying attention, Doom 3 released today. There's a couple of copies floating around work, and I got a chance to play the first level, albeit on a sub-standard graphics card and an LCD monitor. So, here's my impression so far

Whoa. The screenshots made it look really sucky.

Doesn't the TV wreck the resolution and crispness?

Possibly. But 1152x784 or whatever I get on the HDTV is probably about the peak my graphics card will run anyway. And I think a little crispness is a fair enough tradeoff for 5.1 surround with dual subwoofers and a 34" screen.

I dunno. It could very well suck. GTA and Unreal looked friggin' awesome, though, so we'll see.
