Because I haven't posted in a while, it's clearly time for a
stupid bulleted list post to list some thoughts! I'll try livening things up by throwing in some Jackie Harvey-esque bold face!
- Saw the new Harry Potter on Sunday. Even though the stories get more interesting as it progresses, I think the movies are going to get worse. They're just not paced well. This movie suffered from a lot of what the last one did, where it just seemed like the screenplay was trying to check off things that happened in the book. That being said, that scene in the Shrieking Shack with Gary Oldman and Alan Rickman *was* as cool as I had hoped.
- Speaking of going to see Harry Potter, I went with silencius and esk. Interesting fact: silencius has less internal organs than he had last week.
- It's amazing how over the course of about fifteen minutes one's social life can go from fairly dull to fairly full and complicated.
- I decided to give I, Robot another shot, given the fact that the movie's going to suck so hard. It's not as bad as I remember, but I really can't figure out how the movie could have anything to do with it.
- Maybe it's the absence of Magglio Ordonez, but I've become a big fan of Hiram Bocachica. So have these people.
- The O.J. Chase was already 10 years ago. Holy crap. Where was I, you ask? I was watching the NBA Finals to see the Knicks lose while I was packing for our backpack trip to Philmont, and they broke in with the chase. Riveting, I say.
- Is Meatwad a girl? It sounds like they say "she" in the theme song, but you'd never think...
- Why does it smell like spaghetti in here? I had dehydrated mashed potatoes with Bac-Os and some hummus for dinner, so I don't imagine it's coming from my place.
- Spambusters, bitch!
- This summer hockey business is getting kind of lame. I've played one game in the past three weeks! Stupid poor scheduling and lack of TechRec! On the plus side, I've possibly got up to three tournaments coming up, so that should be fun.
- A scary thing to hear when you pick up the phone at work: "Hello, is this... Dave? My name is [so-and-so], and I'm calling from the Department of Defense. I'd like to ask you a few questions."
- I think I'm actually planning on getting contacts. Dealing with glasses while bike riding and playing hockey is becoming enough of a pain in the ass for me to try to overcome my "touching my eyes" fear. I guess the only other thing to overcome is the fear of having a reaction to some of the solution and having my eyes swell shut and going blind... but I'm halfway there!
- Method & Red: how exactly do things like that happen?
