I make with the tl;dr

Sep 11, 2007 20:03

I'm going to be posting a whole ton of the background to The White City story I've been working on, mostly to have a backup of it accessible wherever I happen to be, and as a diary of the creative process because I like that sort of thing. Feedback is not required unless you're really moved, because this journal will be deluged.

A brief introduction. )

I don't recall reading any stories that use a "minion of the Dark Lord" (as it were) as the main character. Does it just not occur to anybody?

Crowley in Good Omens is more or less a minion of the devil, if I recall. It's been ages since I read it though, and I never finished the book because I didn't want library fines. :P

CROWLEY!

I can't believe I forgot about him when doing my mental tally.

Yeah, but can you really call him a minion if he spends most of the book trying to stop the apocalypse? He was more hilariously selfish than evil.

Ooooh political maneuvering! I love political shit, well fantasy political shit. Its the only thing that makes the Anita Blake or Merry books by Laurell k Hamilton readable anymore. And a very fun thing to read in George R R Martin[although I know you don't like him :P]

You sound like you have it really fleshed out and the world sounds really awesome. Ha! I just sound like some lunatic out of DA The horror!!!

This is what staring at a computer screen, entering orders all day does to me...
