Thanks for your Facebook message, Amanda. I wanted to take time to return a thoughtful response and the time got away from me. It surprises me to see your message is dated April 29. I'm sorry for my slow reply because I was happy to hear from you.
I did know that it was you, despite the new FB name and icon. I guess I should note this this is me, mylesk, with a new LJ name and no new icon yet. This is a symptom of my efforts to cope with change.
I read an article this week in HBR about a 2 year study examining levels of social media activity, real-life interactions, and corresponding self-reported mental health, physical health and life satisfaction. Somewhat predictably, it found that high activity on Facebook correlated with lower levels of happiness. But my reaction was to notice how that description doesn't quite fit with my experience, and I think it is because in my social media life, Facebook follows what I experienced at LiveJournal.
