Hard ask

I like having an old journal I can go back to

I encourage it

Stacks of them ignored on shelves at home, and this one too, usually

Tonight looking for a story, remembering that I started LJ in 2002, when I was 15 years old. Twenty years ago.

Looking back, cringe and tenderness for the child self, buoyant and overeager

I need a story for a lesson plan. ( Read more... )

It seems to be happening, lately. People that I know talk about "doing the work". What they generally mean is that they want to figure themselves and their lives out, a little bit. It's something to do and usually can stand doing in some way or another; with some that seems vital, necessary.

With me, it seems to be accepting or resolving things that I've been aware of for long, long time. Decades. I took the DOD test and it said that I had a medium case of PTSD, not minor nor debilitating. I've been aware of that, there are lingering...symptoms. The important part of this: facing my resentment and various feelings in some detail. You can't stop being upset until you pretty much know what you are upset about.

Any problem, fixes are never much impaired by knowing more about it. Usually not.

Journaling is definitely great. I stalk but find myself with nothing to say these days. Having an old journal to look back on to remember the things that I've gotten through in life...
You have many great things stored here. They have connected with many over the years.
You have good goals. I hope they start getting easier.
