Mom had a fall about a month back and I went up to take care of her while she was recovering. Intial diagnosis was way off, she went to a local hospital but has more recently gone to a much more stable situation at Stanford who properly diagnosed her and fixed that situation

yes you will. you will get through this. When I've been in similar situation with my parents, I thought of the Neitsche quote, something about don't stare too long in the abyss or it begins to stare back. meaning, i think, that if you give the darkness your energy you create more darkness. meaning, i think, that it can be a choice. anyway, that's what someone said to me when I was there and it helped.
