Dear Diary,
About a dozen attempts to create a workable substitute for the damaged wiring and insulation on the Death Ray have failed. I still think it can be done, but I need better tools than the ones I have... they were meant to manipulate technology, not create it from nothing. Not the bare bones of it.
However! I have not given up on success. It's been really COLD lately, sort of weird, like it just FELL one day and boom, winter, and everybody's been telling me not to go outside. First, there was some guy running around hurting people, now there's some girl... I suppose it's too much to ask for them to get their stories straight.
...I confess, as... time goes by, it seems less and less urgent, my... getting out of here. I can't help thinking the damage has already been done. But then I remind myself that I was kidnapped and I'm escaping. I didn't betray the League. They have no reason to kill me when I get back. Right. Definitely. And it's not like I'm planning on STAYING here. This cult-infested hellhole isn't exactly a seaside chateau. So, never fear, I am DEFINITELY planning on getting the hell out of here. I just... need some more tools that I... don't have.
I wonder if there's any place I could get those tools. I certainly didn't see them in the stores, but they have to get their utensils and things from somewhere. Maybe they have a primitive blacksmith or something... who I could threaten into helping me...

*clearing throat* Pardon me... *voice breaks* But is there... um, is there like a metalworker, or a blacksmith, or anyone who can... mold or hammer... metal, maybe into tiny... little... wires?
