Some Public-Transport Complaints...

Dec 19, 2006 22:12

This morning at Oxford Station, I was patiently waiting for the 7:36 train to Newcastle or somewhere or other... the platform was FREEZING and there was a heavy mist which was making everything seem incredibly creepy and doom-laden ( Read more... )

THANK YOU! I always think that Virgin trains smell of poo, too! No one else seems to agree w/ me on this until you! *hearts* It is awful. Why do they smell of poo?! Surely w/ all that money Richard Branson could've found some trains that don't have some problem with the septic system.

And all the northbound trains were delayed because of *mumblemumble* at Twyford.

And Holy crap getting up at 330! Surely staying overnight wherever you have gone would've been better. I didn't even know trains RAN at 4.56. Jeebus.

yes. even staying overnight in london would have helped. but i didn't find out in time to organise anything.

this would all be fine. but i got up at 3.45, got my early (slow) train, sat on it for 90mins, got off, got to liverpool st and then found the 7.30 to norwich was cancelled and the 8am one delayed, meaning I couldn't get there in time for the hearing anyway... *cries*

also, it is common knowledge virgin trains smell of poo. who on earth thinks otherwise? maybe they smell of poo themselves so they don't notice.

Ugh totally awful not to be able to have made the hearing after all that effort! I was beginning to think the same would happen to me yesterday as the trains running to time was cutting it close already!

Hey, I just linked over to you from the Oxonians community (where I'll be giving a proper reply later, after pretending to do some more work at the office), and couldn't help replying to this post. If public transport annoys you all the time (as it does me, although I still often prefer it to owning/driving a car), then you may wish to check out this link. Although the creators of that site are based in Seattle and generally oriented towards the States, it appears that this new form of transport technology will in fact be getting its start in Europe, with the first public system now under construction at Heathrow. This is in fact the whole reason that I'm going to business school -- I want to help make it happen!
