True enough for our purposes. It's still entirely possible that Jack Shoulder had no idea how queer theory could apply to his work. But the fun factor remains the same.

For this part, Director Jack Sholder claims that he never intended for there to be a gay subtext to the film, but has subsequently admitted that he does see it in the film, according to the "Nightmare Encyclopedia" included on the DVD box set.

I was beginning to wonder how the hell he kept up his assertions with a straight (ha ha! straight) face there but thank god he recanted because seriously. SERIOUSLY.
