Having read a summary of Pixar's film slate through 2012 (Up, Newt, The Bear and the Bow), am I the only one who finds these upcoming films both really interesting and wholly unmarketable?
I can see what you mean. I need to mention at this point that for the past three Pixar films I have been doubtful of how marketable they are. Each time I actually GO to them I find out that they managed to blow my mind with everything they put into the works. These are just pitches, everything stands on the enthusiasm and dedication to quality and detail which are what makes Pixar stand out.
I would have looked at them oddly if I had heard a pitch for Gerries game which is about an old guy in a park playing a game of chess against himself. As it stands they were able to make it work and that happens to be my favorite short.
That manipulating marketability is one of the things I love about this company.
