Tech Help Requested

Okay tecchies. I am thinking ahead to "vacation", when I will still need to be able to do the occaisional paper....or more. IF... and it is a BIG "if".......IF I were to invest in a laptop, what is the minimum size speed need WHATEVER I would have to be able to do massive reserach downloads (but no music or games)? Ok the first thing you need to do is decide what you are going to use it for. Is it going to be for writing only or do you want to play games with it or do some graphics work, etc. This will determine what you will need.

Also stay away from toshiba and your local box store (costco, Sams, etc.)

ONLY work-related writing, NO MUSIC NO GRAPHICS DESIGN....I do occasionally need to access high-graphics websites.

um, one more thing K......i realize this may be a VERY BASIC (read: stupid) question....but if i don't get one at someplace like sam's or costco....where do you BUY them?

The next laptops we are buying are going to be through Dell.com or Compaq.com. My better half loves compaqs I like dells.

Dell offers free shipping on most of their computers and Compaq offers free shipping on some of their machines.

BTW: A and I have different opinions on Compaqs. We agree to disagree on the matter. we want to stay married.

First thing you are going to want to do is go to your local Best buy, Circuit city, etc and look at their laptops. You are not going to buy from them you are using them to see the style of laptop you like to use. For example to you want a touch mouse or a twiddle mouse, etc ( ... )
