You scored as Existentialism. Your life is guided by the concept of Existentialism: You choose the meaning and purpose of your life.

“Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does.”

“It is up to you to give [life] a meaning.”

Existentialism is quite interesting, if you ask me, but there's one thing I never really figured out.

Granted, this comes from a Christian "conservative" stand point which already predispositions me, but I think it's a valid question.

If we are told by existentialism that the inherent meaning to life itself is relative to each and every person, isn't the thought of existentialism self-defeating? By this, I mean, how can existentialism be accepted as a true philosophical disposition when it defeats itself by saying that it will be different for everyone.

Example:
“It is up to you to give [life] a meaning.”
--Jean-Paul Sartre

“It is man's natural sickness to believe that he possesses the Truth.”
--Blaise Pascal

These statements are paradoxical because by saying them, they are implied as "truth" when the statement itself says they are not.

Anyhow, I don't mean to demean Existentialism or offend anyone, but it's just something I was never able to get over when studying existentialism in high school.

The implication of truth from those statements only comes from a homogeneous standpoint such as Christianity, where even apart from the element of the divine, you still have figures such as theologians and those in the church hierarchy who claim to have a lock on the single truth, which leads to squabbling, divisiveness, etc., and back in the days when the church had more political power, a whole lot of problems for those who might interpret the Bible in unpopular manners, for instance ( ... )

Interesting, I like your thoughts. All of your conclusions are seemingly correct, and they are not new things that I have not pondered. I was going to counter argue/question your paragraphs, but I figured I'd just share what I think because I think it'll relate to your post anyway ( ... )
