Working on modifying our diet just to try to cut down on the grain/rice zone.
We are already light on dairy with just a yogurt now and then, as I have switched to almond milk. Rice or Soy milk is everywhere, but it is a special trip to get the almond over at Lakenheath, but it just taste better.
Legumes are rare as we don't like the off gassing that comes with them.

My brain training screams BAD BAD when I read about just sausages or meat for bfast. Grin, going to try out steaming some cabbage leafs and see about using them as wraps. Meat, salsa, veg all wrapped up.

Hey what is the 411 on potatoes?

Thanks for the info and interesting ways to look at food and its consumption.

There is a lot about this that screams bad. I eat fattier meats than I ever did before. And grains and dairy have been a part of the food pyramid since I was in kindergarten. White potatoes are not allowed, but sweet potatoes are okay. Fruits are okay, but adding sweeteners are not even natural ones like stevia or agave nectar

Here's the info for the Whole 30 Challenge - http://whole9life.com/2010/12/whole30-2011/ So basically its asked us to cut out legumes, grains, sugar, alcohol, dairy, and white potatoes. They actually suggest buying the leanest meats you can and adding in "safe" fats from coconut oil, avocado, olive oil, etc. Their theory is that hormones, antibiotics, etc are all stored in fat and you don't want to be eating fat from animals treated with those. So, you could stick to lean meats, but definitely add in some fats somewhere or you'll be really hungry.

The first week or so is hardest because your body has to switch from burning sugars to burning fats for energy. Lots of people call it, "the carb flu."
