Back from the dead! + FMA & Black Lagoon

Yes I'm back on LJ! It's been 5 months since I 'died' but it seems I'm getting pretty attached to this place afterall... or is it just nostalgia? I guess it's because I started visiting LJ more for updates on manga and anime once again, so why not update here once in a while as well. Anyway, let's move on.

I only ever watched one episode of Black Lagoon when the original first aired, I have no idea why I didn't continue... ;o He does look exactly like Chow Yun Fat though! I really should check it out some day huh.

And welcome back ;D Hope you're enjoying the Easter/spring vacation~

You should definitely give it a second chance - it's pretty good once you get into it. It doesn't really have a continuous plot, but several smaller arcs, and some really good characters. <3

Thanks, as you can see I am pretty much spending it reading manga, haha. I should find a healthier balance between that and doing uni work though...

P.S. And Chang totally looks like Chow Yun-Fat!!! <3

Except that Chang doesn't need to light his cigarettes himself, he's got men for that!XD That pic is extremely hot for some reason...

As for FMA, i'm a bit torn: i'd like to see the people - like Ling & Co. - from the manga, but i wouldn't really want to watch a 1:1 animated copy of it. Someone in the FMA community made an interesting observation when pointing out why they preferred the first anime over the manga. The first anime was character-driven while the manga was plot-driven - i think that pretty much hits the nail on the head! There was a lot more angsting and doubting and general character-depths (Lust for example was very plain in the manga, i liked anime!Lust a lot more...) in the first anime while there's a lot more action and different characters in the manga.

I hope the second anime will be ale to find a balance between the two.

You're right, that's a really good point you brought up - proof is I actually watched it till the end... if a shounen anime turns into too much random fighting I'm bound to drop it haha. Actually since the first anime followed the manga in the first half, they could make a good use of the time for stuff like character development there - better than repeating what we've already seen. Oh well, I think we'll be able to tell soon enough if this is a genuine attempt at a remake or just milking the cow dry before it.. dies? (manga ends? XD)

You're alive! XD I was about to poke your dead body journal.

Black Lagoon... I'll put that in my plan to read list. Apparently I like badass men kicking ass while looking good in shades.

You could say I've awaken from the winter hibernation. XD

Oh yes please read Black Lagoon. You won't regret it. This manga has some of the coolest villains ever. <3
