FFXIII is, thus far, an exercise in spotting the game mechanics/aesthetics/background music that they pulled from other games. It is also the most exquisite example of telling not showing that I have ever seen. It is pure.

BUT EVENTUALLY YOU'LL GET FANG. |D Fang is GREAT <3<3<3<3 Hope and Lighting are also pretty awesome, but yeah, everything is better when Snow isn't around. Ffff Snow. *kicks him*

...Sazah is also pretty cool, and also the sanest. I never really took to Vanille, though. (Some of that's her voice acting. She's supposed to be 'Australian'. :| YEAH UH NO.)

I loved and hated that game. There was a lot of potential, as even if the characters were stock FF tropes they still had their own stories and emotional involvement, and the basis of the world was intricate and interesting. And then each chapter became "RUN AROUND AND LEVEL UP. AT THE END OF THE CHAPTER SOMEONE WILL SHOW UP AND TELL YOU A LONG STORY ABOUT THE REAL REASON WHY YOU JUST DID ALL THAT, WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO NOW, AND HOW YOU'VE BEEN MANIPULATED ALL ALONG, ALTHOUGH EVERY TIME THE STORY WILL CHANGE UNTIL YOU'D RATHER PUT A BULLET IN YOUR BRAIN THAN KEEP TRYING TO SORT THIS OUT. OR, YOU KNOW, DESTROY THE FOUNDATIONS OF YOUR WORLD BECAUSE YOU DON'T NEED TO FIGURE OUT THE TRUTH IF IT'S ALL DEAD."

I'm fond of FFX and I'm still having trouble warming up to this game. It won't even let me run around and level up properly. Christ, if I wanted to spend my time looking for a fight and getting cockblocked by running out of enemies I'd go play EVE.
