The chicken is safe, regardless of whispering sirens.

At 4am, Kim awoke to the slamming of our back screen door. My lazy ass was perfectly willing to suffer through the noise a bit more rather than drag myself from the absolute comfort of my burrito wrapped self. Grumbling to herself just loud enough for me to feel guilty, she pulled herself out of bed to secure the door. While roaming around the ( Read more... )

to Scott for not realizing that I was cussing because I couldn't find my clothes to shut the banging screen door. Panic didn't ensue until I was on the back porch and heard the alarms. My son always gets a kick out of watching me fill up every pitcher the household offers with water during storms(I'm from FL, it's not amusing to lack water before, during or after a hurricane. We also established only one flashlight worked). Throwing the kitten in the bathroom closet, I immediately strip the bed of blankets, thinking the mattress is going into the bathroom to cover 4 adult size people in the bathtub. So imagine much flushing of the toilet, me finding time time to wash the mascara out of my eyes in time to watch the news say the storm is over Cumming. I even found time to bring the grill and garbage can inside while yelling for help from 2 teenagers, just to notice not one house on the block has lights on, like there's any reason for concern. It's a damn shame what people find important and funny in those small moments.

They already re-built the chicken once. The original one was destroyed during the Blizzard of '93. KFC was NOT going to rebuild it due to costs, but the city rebelled, and thousands of people converged on the intersection to protest, and so they rebuilt it. Better, stronger, faster. na na na nan an na nan .........

He should be almost indestructable now.

They picture inside and pieces of the original building.

I picture the chicken going out like the professor's house in the movie Real Genius. Popcorn shooting out of it's beak and such.

Yeah, apparently it swirled and whirled around my house. (I live very near the Roswell/41 intersection)
My company that night said I slept like a log through it and went into an even deeper sleep as the noise increased.

Go me for being able to sleep through a natural disaster, even if a little one.
Ha! Glad you all are ok.
