Livejournal. The facebook replacement?

Apr 09, 2022 11:18

you know, if everyone started noping out of FB and moving back to LJ, and LJ had some of the group features and message app stuff I use FB for, I would be VERY interested in returning.

(I really hate FB, at this point)

If someone other than the Russians owned LJ that might also be viable. I'd love to come back full time on here but FB has taken over social media since it hit the ground running. I despise all of their bot judgments and arbitrary rulings on their TOS BS.

I had a sudden random urge to check on activity in LJ this morning, and here you are!

I think I agree with the 'if the Russians didn't own LJ' bit. :-/

I have opted out of FB since the very beginning, their vibes started out creepy and went downhill from there. Everyone should nope out of FB, like yesterday.

But an LJ clone hosted in the US? Sounds like a good idea (that probably wouldn't make any money - FB would just buy it of course).

well, ok.

I have to say it: Minds.com does exist. I do like it. and it is very much a free speech platform.

Honestly, I've been trying to suggest people check it out for years now.

So our choices are FB, Russian-owned LJ, or... crypto? Hmm.

I'm pretty cool with crypto. as a youtube replacement, I've been liking odysee.com a lot, incidentally. you should check it out.
