That's sounds like a nightmare.

I might be a little of #3 - although my goal would be to look like the girl next to her or else the one at the top of the page.. but I only sing very quietly to myself in perfect pitch.

I admit to doing #3 myself (although, in my case, I was trying to combine treadmill workouts with learning Japanese).

My gym sends members surveys every year. I suggested posting etiquette guidelines for the weight/ cardio room and studios (where we have classes), because there are several members who are obviously unaware that they are in a shared space and unable to play nice with others. I think that's where my peevishness comes from.

The downside is that the worst offenders will say 'oh, this doesn't apply to me' and they are never held accountable for their bad behaviour. The thing I like about this one dance instructor (who is somewhat of a douche; I ranted about him last fall) is that he will call people out if they are behaving badly. He will not allow people to come in more than 15 minutes late (and he is being generous, by the standards of the facility), and he will not allow people to come into the studio and watch the class; if they want to see what the class is like, they have to participate.

It always amazes me that there are so many douches in Vancouver - or even any at all. Maybe Vancouver is too libertarian or something. Vandoucher. Or maybe it got too selfish after everyone was very liberal...? Maybe it's radio waves from Seattle, or caffeine in the water, or low vitamin D3.

That one instructor sounds good, and yet not even up to standards - so the problems at the gym do sound too much!

I like to blame Gordon Campbell and the B.C. Fiberals (Lie-berals), but the overall douchiness of Vancouver even predates him. I drafted a post about Vancouver a while back (it's still a draft), so I might go back to it. We have our own version of the Seattle Freeze ( ... )

There's a woman at my gym who does that (blow dry her bits). One day, I'm going to lose it, unplug the blowdryer, and loudly tell her STOP DOING THAT! THAT'S NASTY!
