Kids these days

Maybe I am old. I've thought that being in my early 30's is a respectable age. Though now I am beginning to wonder. Yesterday I was talking to one of our IT people about the disappointing onsale for the Police show at the New Orleans Arena. (The onsale was disappointing because there are in fact tickets still available. The concert should have ( Read more... )

I had some Police on vinyl when I was a wee little girl, singing aloud, "A doo doo doo, a da da da...". Have you heard what Sting sounds like? I wouldn't pay out the ass to listen to that.

Neither would I. Though I am going to be taking my sister to the concert, so I get to go without having to pay. I can't seem to make myself spend more than $30 with fees to see a show. Could be why I don't go to anything.

I gotta agree with Leslie here. I'm one of the few people not really excited by the Police reunion, and I certainly wouldn't pay to go to their concert. Plus, most NOLA people are still spending all their money on things like, oh, rebuilding, instead of crappy Justin Timberlake or the Police concerts.

I'm not arguing that. I understand why it didn't sell out. When you have to budget entertainment is the first to go. Believe me I understand that ALL too well. The tickets are definately high priced. Like I said earlier, I wouldn't be going to it, but my sister is paying for me to go so I can take her. I could never afford it just to go for me.

I was trying to point out I find it interesting that people don't get why nothing ever comes here. If you are an artist that can go to city A which your concert will sell out making you more money or to city B where you might not sell out, which are you going to choose? This concert by all rights should have had a further reach than the gulf coast too. It should have in theory brough people in from North LA or Jackson or even Mobile that wasn't hurt much at all.

Tell me about it. I have to manage teenagers at my work. Music, TV, etc... that doesn't appear on MTV, they have no clue about! It is disgusting!

I love Sting and the Police. I found a Synchronicity Cassette when I moved into an apartment when I was 13. It was soooo soothing to my depressed teenagerosity. From then on I was addicted!

I suck at remembering song titles. I love me some Iron Maiden 'though and Blue Oyster Cult so they would have to be included.

but I'm not surprised it didn't sell out. the more people I talk to, the more I realize how hard it is to live in this city. I mean in the pocketbook... after you pay everyone else, it seems there's little room to take care of yourself. unless you're in that upper upper income.

No doubt. I'm not surprised it didn't sell as well considering. When I said disappointing, I meant in the business sense. We're in it to make money. While there are not many tickets left it was just expected to sell out and didn't.

Good god I'm a corporate drone.
