Oh yes. It's been 5 1/2 months already since I turned my back against my major in Media Studies to take up a job offer that heavily emphasizes on clerical work. Not that I care much anymore, having a stable income is my highest priority now. Aside from of course, the now-not-so-secret plans of holy matrimony.
Reality sank in this month when I've undergone 2 significant rituals that somewhat knocked some sense into my head that it's all happening for real. One of them being the 'engagement ring hunt' in which it has spanned much unwanted drama due to conflicting interests (and also the desire to get one at the best bargain). I've always been a pragmatic in my decisions, believing that simplicity is suffice to make me happy and tiny details shouldn't get in my way. While we (a crew consisting of me, Atifi and Amir) did not manage to find any decent GIA-certified diamond rings under RM2000, we did on the other hand, found our ideal rings in which the deal was sweetened by the pocket-friendly prices. After all, the purpose of getting one is to wear it right on my vena amoris to signify my unavailability. All in all, there's no way I'm going to sell my engagement ring (sentimental value!) so GIA certified diamonds can wait :P
*sniffs* If only I had studied harder and work as an accountant, I could buy this on my own....wait that doesn't sound right
(Psst. Planning brides-to-be, please please go to the Habib HQ Ampang for best prices and choices. Serious kesal I didn't make this my first choice of destination. Always remember that when it comes to securing your dream ring, there's no such thing as 'Ala pergi aje yang dekat rumah kita tu'. Don't be lazy and hesitant. Get out of your comfort zone. Alahai, nak bagai nasihat tapi sendiri pun lengai ape cite =_= )
I can't say much about my ring now (if you wanna peek at it, go to
Atifi's bride-zilla blog :D) except that I've only got to hold it for about 2 hours (after painfully swiping my credit card before midnight strikes and poof no more 70% discount!) before surrendering it to the boyfie so that he can 'present' it to me again when the time comes. Which is, not too long anyway so I can wait :)
The second one, in which I've just went through last weekend : the pre-marital course. During my brother's time, according to him, it's so lax that he can go in and out of the place without needing to be there for the entire day. And they also get the actual borang mohon kahwin and borang nikah too (it's different for each state). Of course times have changed, me + Atifi + our respective future husbands is subjected to 1 1/2 day's worth of lectures and there's no way of running away during the lecture as they are now stricter with the attendance. Also, only photostat-ed forms are given to us for practice purposes. Sungguh different kan? And let's not talk about the meal. Nasi ayam separuh paket, nasi lemak sambal tak ikhlas. Taula nak bagi alasan para pengantin kena jaga badan tapi sumpah tak ikhlas betul bila nak bagi orang makan. Kurang sikit membebel pasal borang kursus kahwin tu, more time for us to rest boleh tak? As Atifi put it, repeating the process over and over again ends up making us more confused than ever over the procedures. Takpela. The course isn't so bad. Just lots of talking and speeches, some easier to endure and some plainly reminds me of CTU zaman Diploma.
Dahlah Arnie. Masa abang you buat tu tahun 2003. Zaman nasi ayam beriyani masih RM6, zaman takde pasangan wajib ambik ujian HIV. Nowadays, with budak 11 tahun boleh mengandung, orang cerai pakai SMS, any precaution is better than none. Sekarang is 2011. 8 years difference kot. Harga kursus still RM80. But masa dulu ada ke ambik gambar size A4 charge RM15 sebagai bahan bukti? Hmm takpela, manalah tau it will help us should there be any problem registering our future marriage? Kan skarang banyak sangat orang suka menipu dalam bab-bab kahwin. I guess the enforced rules and regulations is there to help prevent the fraudsters from taking advantage of the system.
Okla. Dah puas meluah jiwa sekejap. Let's talk about one thing that I've at least confirmed :D :
Scallop-Edge Favor Boxes! Very the English theme no?
Planning to get 4 sets first as I fear that I may find some nicer-looking favor boxes. Also, I've received a pretty good quotation for a 4-piece chocolate deal with no minimum order required. Though the deal clincher has to be that she delivers to Shah Alam for free! Best kan :D (dah dia pun duduk Shah Alam, buang tabiat kot nak charge untuk delivery >D)
Just need to reconfirm with the parental units if they are okay with it *_* Ideally I would want to give my guests home-made Yong Tau Foo and Rojak Sauce as doorgifts (see what I mean when I said about being pragmatic? Give people things that they can EAT not put on their office cubicle to collect dust >D)
Okay. I'm feeling rather poor now. Paid RM68 for 1 1/2 day parking at KL Sentral the other day when I made a quick trip back to Perak and I've spent the weekend eating fast-food (ouch and ouch to my pockets X_X). I haven't even paid for the deposit of my wedding dress since I am still rather indecisive about which tailor should I pick for my difficult-to-manage beaded chiffon lace X_X
Let's hope I get it finalized this week or next. Till then, will be back in my cushy job, enjoying every moment while poking fun at my crazy colleagues~
